HOUAY XAI TO LUANG PRABANG ( 2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT)

DOWNSTREAM CRUISE – 2 DAYS OF BOAT SERVICES

• From October to March: Departure 6 times/week every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
• From April to September: Departure 3 times/week every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

DAY 1: HOUAY XAY – PAKBENG

Pick up could be arranged with our sharing minivan at hotel guests in Chiang Khong between 07 and 07:30am. From 07:30AM until 08AM at latest, Meet our English-Speaking team at the Chiang Khong immigration office at Thai side. We will help the guests to exit Thailand and get the shuttle bus to Lao border including luggage handling. Right after, Guest will meet our local guide at Lao immigration at the shuttle bus terminal and he could assist guests to apply for their visa on Arrival. After passing Lao immigration, guests will take a sharing minivan to the slow boat pier to embark on the boat around 09:30AM at latest. During the morning, Quick lecture about Do’s and Don’ts in Laos and fun facts will be presented by our guide. Lao traditional Lunch set is served on board. After lunch, we will prepare a short cooking class experience and teach our passengers how to make local dessert: KhaoTom muk Khouay (Banana with coconut milk and sticky rice rolled in a banana leaf). Before reaching Pakbeng,we will stop to visit a local village (Ban Pak Sith), a tiny cozy place which host about 60 families. Travelers will learn about rural lifestyle and how to make Local Rice alcohol in a very remote area. The boat will arrive at Pakbeng before the night.

Note: If the travelers are already in Houay Xai, we will arrange pick up at their hotel between 09am and 09:30am. The boat will leave Houay Xai at latest at 0930am.

DAY 2: PAKBENG – LUANG PRABANG

The boat will leave Pakbeng at 08am. Enjoy the beautiful nature and jungle during your journey. In the morning, our guide and cooker will make a short demonstration on how to make local homemade drinks made with butterfly pie flowers and lemon. A Lao traditional Lunch set is served on board. After lunch, the boat will stop at the Pak Ou Caves (Tham Ting) and its over two thousand Buddha statues. It is one of the most important Pilgrimage places for lao people. The boat will arrive in Luang Prabang before 4:30pm. Sharing minivan transfer can be arranged directly to hotel guest if they stay in downtown. End of services.

GENERAL NOTICE:

• From November to February, it can get cold during the cruise, do not forget to bring a jacket.
• It is possible to leave luggage and suitcase on the boat and take only small daypack for your overnight in Pakbeng.
• For safety reasons and according to the weather conditions, the program may change without prior notice.

CHILD POLICY

Free of charge for children under 6 years old.

Between 6 and 12 years old, we charge 50% of the normal rate.

Over 13 years old, full rate is applied.

• Hotel pickup in Chiang Khong + Welcome at Thai immigration + shuttle bus ticket for crossing border from Thailand to Laos (for downstream cruise).
• Transfer on a sharing minivan from Lao immigration office to slow boat Pier in Houay Xai
• Crew service during the cruise.
• Baggage handling during all the cruise.
• Admission fees for visiting sites serviced by our English-speaking guide.
• Lunch on board as mentioned in the program. drinking water, coffee & tea.
• Transfer in Luang Prabang from pier to hotel

PROGRAMS EXCLUDED:

• Visa/immigration and/or overstay fees in Laos or in Thailand.
• Accommodation and meals in PakBeng.
• Personal insurance.
• Beverages, personal expenses, and tips.
• Other expenses not mentioned above.

OTHER:

• Shompoo cruise guarantees each departure for a minimum of 4 passengers. Please check availability before make reservation.
• Maximum capacity of our boats is 35 passengers.
• If the departure doesn’t reach the minimum of passengers 15 days before the departure date, Shompoo cruise has the right to cancel their departure.
• For some reasons, the boat may arrive later than usual. The company will not provide any kind of compensation.
• In case of Force majeure, the company will not be responsible for the providing services excluded of our terms.
• The insurance, cruise company shall be liable to insure for the total limit of 1000 USD/passenger maximum for joining cruise. Coverage excludes loss of cash, precious metal and stones, valuables or objects of a rare precious nature, belongings to persons.
