The Slow Boat is a unique and rewarding cruise, perfect for exploring the exotic and beautiful scenery of the north in comfort. Cruising down the Mekong can be very relaxing. You will develop a sense of serenity being absorbed by the physical pull of the river and its surrounding lush green landscape. Gliding smoothly on the river you will soak up the slow-paced atmosphere as we wave to the friendly, smiling locals we see on our way to Luang Prabang.
DAY 1: HOUEIXAY – PAKBENG (Lunch, Dinner)
At 8:00 am. meet our service team member at Thai immigration to assist you for Thailand departure formality process. After that you cross the 4th friendship bridge from Thailand to Laos to meet our local guide to assist you at Lao side immigration and transfer you to board our cruise. Please find the signboard “Le Grand Cruise” at the meeting point in front of Immigration Counter.
This morning you will board your traditional slow boat for the cruise downstream the Mekong River to the river town of Pakbeng.
Enroute the scenery along this part of the Mekong is arguably at its most beautiful. As your journey downriver you will stop at some Hmong, Yao and Khmu ethnic minority villages and experience observing their traditional local lifestyle. Lunch is served on board while cruising.
Arriving at Pakbeng late afternoon you will check in to your bungalow and enjoy a few drinks watching the sunset over the mountains and the Mekong River at the swimming pool side terrace. Overnight in Pakbeng
*Optional: You may hup off & hup on staying longer at our property for longer in order to continue visiting local villages, experience gold panning and local way of life in this remote countryside. And you can always hup on boarding our next cruise in a few days and/or drive to 140km to Oudomxay to board an express train down to Luang Prabang…etc.*
DAY 2: PAKBENG – PAK OU – LUANG PRABANG (Breakfast, Lunch)
Breakfast and transfer you from our resort to board pier. Your board time 08:00. This morning we continue the second legs downstream pass areas of un-spoilt forest with little villages along the riverbanks and perhaps the odd elephant or two with his mahout. You will visit a Hmong village and have the opportunity to explore the local villages and old temples. Lunch is served on board as we enjoy the slow-paced cruise.
We will pull over for a visit to Pak-Ou Caves, an ancient pilgrimage site and containing thousands of gold lacquered Buddha images left there over hundreds of years.
Arriving in Luang Prabang, you will disembark at Le Calao pier around sunset, your local guide is ready to meet up and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Luang Prabang

Important: One day cruise without hotel accommodation for half way journey such as Houeixay – Pakbeng or Pakbeng – Luang Prabang for passengers who wish to stay longer at Le Grand Pakbeng.
Child under 12 years old sharing bed with parent discount 40% from the adult rates (maximum 2 children). All booking requires at least 17 days prior to arrival
Condition: Join-in cruise 2days/1night package inclusive of 2 lunches on board cruise and 1 dinner at resort restaurant. Each departure must be minimum at least 2 passengers for every departure, unless applying the charter cruise rates (price on request). The trip will be based English speak guide on board and all entrance fees to sight visit.
