MEKONG EXCURSION

PRIVATE BOAT TRIP ON THE MEKONG RIVER 
HOUY XAI – LUANG PRABANG (2 DAYS)

Day 1: HOUEI SAY – PAKBENG (Lunch Included)

07:00 A.M. – Meet at your hotel in Chiang Khong for transfer to the Thai Immigration checkpoint at the 4th Friendship Bridge (Chiang Khong–Houay Xai). After completing the formalities, cross the border into Laos by shuttle bus and obtain a visa on arrival at Houay Xai Immigration. Once all formalities are done, continue to the slow boat pier to embark on your cruise down the Mekong River toward Pakbeng Village.

The boat departs Houay Xai pier around 09:00 A.M., cruising downstream along the scenic Mekong. Along the way, the boat will make a stop to visit a riverside village and observe the traditional lifestyle of local communities. A freshly prepared lunch is served on board. The boat arrives at Pakbeng Village before sunset, where you will stay overnight.

Day 2: PAKBENG – PAK OU – LUANG PRABANG (Lunch Included)

(Optional: Early morning visit to Pakbeng’s local market, where nearby villages and hill tribes come to trade their goods.)

After breakfast, rejoin the boat for the second leg of your Mekong journey. Lunch is served on board as you cruise toward Luang Prabang.

On the way, stop at Pak Ou Village, located at the mouth of the Nam Ou River, to explore the famous Tam Ting Caves, also known as the “Caves of a Thousand Buddhas.” If time allows, the trip includes a visit to a local “Lao Lao” whisky distillery and a weaving village along the riverbank.

Arrive at Luang Prabang (a UNESCO World Heritage city) at Ban Don Mai pier before sunset.
